Robin Hood (taken from chapter one)
by John Goodwin

In this part of Sherwood Forest there were many trees. The trees were very tall. Not many people went into this part of the forest because of the outlaws. In the forest there was a small river. There was a bridge acroos the river. The bridge was really a tree. A man walked onto the bridge. He ws all in green from head to foot, and in his hand was a long bow. His name was Robin Hood.

As Robin walked onto the bridge another man walked onto the other end of it. Robin looked at the man. He saw the man´s tall boy, his long fingers and his very long arms. The man did not see Robin as he came across the bridge.

"Get out of my way", said the big man. The two men met halfway across the bridge.
"Get out of my way" he said again.
"Get out of my way or I will fight you". The man was big and frightening and Robin could see his big brown face and black teeth.

"I was on the brigde before you. Move so I can pass" said Robin.

Robin hit the man on his arm. But the big man stood like a tree. He stood very still. Before Robin could hit him again, the big man picked Robin up in the air. He threw Robin into the river.

Robin swam to the side of the river. He was very wet. He stood up and said "come and help me out of the river, big man". He help up his hand and the big man came to him.

"Thanks", said Robin as he took hold of the man's big hand. He then gave it a hard pull and they both fell into the river. Then the big man began to laugh.

"Why are you laughing?", asked Robin.

I'm laughing because you pulled me into the river. Now we are both wet. Who are you? "My name is Robin Hood", answered Robin. The big man looked into his eyes.

"You are Robin Hood?" He asked.

"I am", said Robin.
